The Story Behind the Painting

As the first light of morning spreads across the Arizona desert, a Gambel’s quail pauses atop a weathered perch to survey the awakening landscape. Morning Perch celebrates the quiet dignity and unmistakable personality of one of the Southwest’s most familiar desert birds.

From My Easel

I wanted to capture the watchful expression and gentle character of the Gambel’s quail. The warm desert colors and quiet setting reflect that peaceful moment in the morning before the desert fully comes alive.
